works in the 109E against its contemporaries too it just takes longer.
against a spit9 the 109F can do a barrel roll defense which looks like the spiral climb but in reverse. sucker the spit9 into a spiral dive, use throttle, aileron, and rudder to create an angle that he cant gain a shot. continue to use aileron into a barrel roll to force the over shoot.
done correctly you gain a shot opportunity and or an escape opporunity.
